Phil Free is chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology practice group. He is a registered patent attorney, licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Phil is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, and presently serves as President of the Intellectual Property section of the Oklahoma Bar Association.
His experience in intellectual property litigation includes patent and trademark bench and jury trials, and he has conducted Markman Hearings in several states. He has represented both patent and trademark owners and alleged infringers in federal courts across the country. His patent cases have involved diverse technologies ranging from microprocessors to oil field technology.
In non-litigation matters, Phil assists clients with the development of strategic plans to protect their intellectual property portfolios. He has a significant trademark practice that includes trademark clearance searches and opinions, federal and state trademark applications, oppositions and cancellation proceedings. He provides counseling to clients on domain name disputes and other matters relating to the Internet.
