
Highly distinguished and respected, William G. Paul serves as an advisory director the Firm’s Oklahoma City office. His areas of practice encompass alternative dispute resolutions, commercial transactions, corporate governance, and trusts and estates laws. Mr. Paul has lectured on various topics at the University of South Dakota College of Law, Oklahoma City University, the Georgia Institute of Technology, and the University of Pennsylvania College of Law. He was honored with the opportunity to be a commencement speaker at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, as well as the Oklahoma City University College of Law.
Mr. Paul’s prestige and respect are evidenced by his leadership in various professional organizations. He has served as president of both the Oklahoma and American Bar Associations, the American Bar Endowment, the Oklahoma County Bar Association, and the National Conference of Bar Presidents to name a few. Mr. Paul was also the former senior vice-president for the Phillips Petroleum Company.
Mr. Paul was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2003, and is a member of the University of Oklahoma Alumni Hall of Fame. In addition, he received the President’s Award from the American Bar Association, as well as the Spirit of Excellence Award for his commitment to diversity in the legal profession. The Oklahoma Bar Association honored him with the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000. Also, Mr. Paul is listed in The Best Lawyers in America (Alternative Dispute Resolution).
Mr. Paul graduated from the University of Oklahoma (B.A., 1952) with numerous honors and awards, including the Gold Letzseiser Medal for outstanding male graduate, the Rotary Award for outstanding college graduate, and the Outstanding NROTC Student for all four years of his undergraduate career. He was also a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Mr. Paul’s achievements at the University of Oklahoma College of Law (LL.B., 1956) are equally impressive. He was a member of the prestigious and exclusive academic societies of the Order of the Coif and the Order of the Barristers, and was on the Board of Editors for the Oklahoma Law Review. He received the Callahan Company Award for having the highest grade point average in his junior class, and was the winner of the rigorous Moot Court Competition.
Mr. Paul’s community involvement reflects his dedication to the city. For example, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Gilcrease Museum, and was president of both the OU Alumni Association and the Bizzel Memorial Library Society. He has worked with the United Way, Red Earth, Inc., and the Westminster Presbyterian Church. In addition to his community contributions, he served the nation as a colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps.
