In the Boardroom
The Firm is assisting Tom L. Ward in connection with a proposed acquisition of approximately 40% of the common stock of Riata Energy, Inc, from Riata's controlling shareholder for $500 million. Mr. Ward, who formerly served as President and Chief Operating Officer and a director of Chesapeake Energy Corporation, will become the largest shareholder of Riata and its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Riata is an Amarillo based exploration and production, gas gathering and processing and drilling company. Mr. Ward expects to relocate the headquarters to Oklahoma City.
In the Boardroom
On June 8, 2006, PepsiCo, Inc. announced a new $180 million Gatorade manufacturing and distribution facility to be sited in Pryor, Oklahoma, at the MidAmerica Industrial Park. The location was one of several in the country the Company had investigated for this project. Michael Laird, head of the firm's Real Estate Practice Group, and Gary Betow, Co-Chair of the Finance Practice Group, are counseling the Company and its affiliates in this endeavor. The plant will service the South Central Region of the United States and will employ approximately 280 people.
