Oklahoma City Attorney, William G. Paul, Sought by Local Media to Comment on Nomination of Harriet Miers to United States Supreme Court
October 2005 - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
When the President announced his most recent nominee to the Supreme Court, Harriet Miers of Dallas, the local media sought an Oklahoma City attorney with the depth of experience and knowledge of the legal profession who could comment on the nomination. The Oklahoma Bar Association referred the media to Crowe & Dunlevy attorney William G. Paul, whose practice is primarily in civil litigation and mediation. Mr. Paul served as President of the American Bar Association in 1999 and has held many other leadership positions in the legal profession. In addition to his 37 years at Crowe & Dunlevy, Mr. Paul chaired the Firm's Executive Committee for 6 years, and served for 11 years as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Phillips Petroleum Company.
It was a fortunate connection, as Mr. Paul has known Harriet Miers for over 20 years, both in the ABA where they served together on a committee and in law practice when he had cases with her firm.
Mr. Paul currently serves as Trustee of the University of Oklahoma Foundation, Trustee of the National Constitution Center located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is on the Board of Trustees of the Oklahoma Lottery Commission.
