CASA Holiday Event

December 2012

Once again, the Tulsa Crowe & Dunlevy office contributed to the CASA holiday party which was attended by more than 140 children.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a nonprofit organization that represents the interests of abused and neglected children through the court system.

The annual holiday party is a way for the CASA organization to show support for the children, their foster families and the CASA volunteers.

145 children with pending cases on the deprived docket of the Tulsa County Juvenile Court attended the party along with their families, their foster families and CASA volunteers. Thanks to the generous support of Reasor's and Crowe & Dunlevy employees, the office filled 36 bushel baskets with food for the families.

CASA trains community volunteers to act as guardians ad litem, who are then appointed by the court to speak in the best interest of a child in a particular case that is working its way through the juvenile court system.

Positive Tomorrows Event

December 2012

Crowe & Dunlevy raised money and donated toys for the Merry Market at Positive Tomorrows.

What is Positive Tomorrows? Positive Tomorrows is a private, tuition-free elementary school that meets the educational and social service needs of homeless children and their families. They remove barriers that impede a child’s access to education and enrichment, support homeless families to help them become empowered and self-sufficient and provide robust, intensive and differentiated education.

What is Merry Market? Merry Market consists of two shopping areas. One contains gifts for children; the other contains gifts for parents. Positive Tomorrows transports parents so they can shop free of charge for their children. Students have the opportunity to shop for their parents during Winter Break Camp. Volunteers help wrap presents so gifts can be taken home and opened on Christmas morning.

Andre' Caldwell, Associate at Crowe & Dunlevy and Board Member of Positive Tomorrows, delivers a check to Susan Agel of Positive Tomorrows during the Merry Market event.

Regional Food Bank Event

February 2012

In February, Crowe & Dunlevy volunteers donated their time and muscle as they literally dug into frozen food to assist the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma in packaging 113 cases of frozen corn and 146 cases of frozen potatoes.  In addition to separating, weighing, packaging food, Crowe & Dunlevy attorneys and staff donated 137 lbs of peanut butter to the Regional Food Bank.

The Food Bank is the state's largest private hunger-relief charity whose mission is Fighting Hunger & Feeding Hope. They serve as a link that allows the food industry and community to donate food and household products that are then distributed to more than 825 charitable feeding programs and elementary schools in 53 counties; enough food to feed more than 90,000 people a week.

Rebuilding Together OKC

September 2011

On September 28, 2011, volunteers from Crowe & Dunlevy partnered with Rebuilding Together to assist in repairing an elderly woman's home in Oklahoma City. Crowe & Dunlevy employees helped by demolishing walls and preparing for the installation of a new wall within the homeowner's living space. During their efforts they encountered the typical dust and debris and a few spiders.  By the end of the day, everyone felt muscles they did not know they had and the homeowner was on her way to a safer, more comfortable home.

Rebuilding Together's mission is rebuilding lives and neighborhoods, making homes safe, warm, and dry for low-income senior citizens in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Through their Year-Round Emergency Repair/Home Modification Program and their annual "Work Day" Program, Rebuilding Together provides free home repairs, emergency home repairs and home modifications that foster safer mobility and independence, changing the lives of our elderly neighbors every day.

Central Oklahoma Humane Society

February 2011

Volunteers from Crowe & Dunlevy had a fantastic time cleaning a few cages and pens and repainting old pet furniture at the COHS facility. A few dogs even found new homes that day!

The Central Oklahoma Humane Society's mission is to make the compassionate and respectful treatment of animals a prevalent community value and the well-being of animals a community priority. They are more than exceeding that mission by funding countless adoption opportunities, foster programs, educational programs, spay/neuter assistance, and their very important support to make Oklahoma a "no kill" state. www.okhumane.org

City Rescue Mission

November 11th & 18th, 2010

Volunteers assisted with sorting and folding donated clothing items, tutoring children, serving food, and stuffing donation packets.

The City Rescue Mission is a nonprofit organization serving the homeless living in Oklahoma City. For more than 50 years they have saved many lives and have had a profound impact on thousands of others by providing compassionate, humanitarian services to those in desperate need.

In addition to the site outing, Crowe & Dunlevy employees had an opportunity to participate in the Undie Monday drive to provide the City Rescue Mission with much needed undergarments for their warehouse.

Clothes for Kids

August 5th & 6th, 2010

Volunteers from Crowe & Dunlevy acted as "personal shoppers" for children in need before they headed back to school. Each child, with the help of a volunteer, shopped for brand new pants, shirts, shoes, socks and underwear donated to Skyline Ministries.

The focus of Skyline Urban Ministries is upon the poor and needy of Oklahoma County. Their mission is to mobilize people of faith to empower the healing of the broken and those in need.
