Crowe & Dunlevy Names Chair of Banking & Financial Institutions Practice Group

Crowe & Dunlevy recently named Director Gary Bryant as chair of the firm’s Banking & Financial Institutions practice group. Members of this group are recognized as the top professionals in this field and have experience in loan negotiation and documentation, retail banking and corporate and personal trust.

“Recognized as one of the preeminent lawyers in the banking and bankruptcy field, Gary has a lot to offer as the leader of this group,” said Kevin Gordon, president of Crowe & Dunlevy. “His experience includes representing clients from some of the smallest banks in Oklahoma to Fortune 100 financial institutions and their affiliates.”

Bryant’s primary practice area involves commercial banking and litigation for financial institutions, as well as covering a broad range of finance matters generally focused on the representation of lenders and corporate borrowers. Additionally, he has extensive experience in the representation of lenders in their commercial real estate financing transactions across the United States.

Bryant has a long history of work representing both rural and metropolitan financial institutions. Many cases involved complex loan workouts, restructurings, receiverships and foreclosures involving oil and gas, transportation and agricultural businesses and related Chapter 11 and Chapter 12 bankruptcy proceedings in these areas. He has not only represented creditors of failed financial institutions, but holding companies of failed institutions as well.

A member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Phi Delta Pi and the Order of the Coif, Bryant served as a member of the board of directors of the Young Lawyers Division of the Oklahoma Bar Association. He was also an associate bar examiner for the Oklahoma Bar Association for six years and is a Master Emeritus in the William J. Holloway, Jr. American Inn of Court.

Bryant has authored articles on consumer credit and commercial law and is a speaker for continuing legal education programs in the areas of bankruptcy and commercial law. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 1989 and Oklahoma Super Lawyers since 2007. He earned his Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Texas and bachelor’s degree with special distinction from the University of Oklahoma.
