D. Michael McBride III, Crowe & Dunlevy Indian Law & Gaming Practice Chair, will be a presenting speaker at the Tribal Energy Economies: Investing in a Sustainable Future CLE Conference in March 2010.
McBride will join a panel in a discussion entitled "Federal Initiatives that Will Help Define the Future."
The federal government is Indian country’s partner in any land-based energy project. Its role as trustee may lead to frustrating delays, but its role as policy maker and promoter of domestic energy resources makes it an invaluable partner. The federal government has grown and evolved with the industry in Indian country and now offers incentives and programs that promote the energy industry on tribal lands. This panel will answer numerous questions, including: What will be its role in future energy development as tribal energy resources agreements proliferate across Native America? What will the federal government do to promote traditional energy development in an era focused on renewable and alternative energy? And how will the federal government encourage expedited development of new energy technologies on tribal lands while promoting sustainable energy economies?
