New Oklahoma Law Regarding Website Accessibility Aims to Protect Businesses

As technology has advanced, so too has the confusion regarding what businesses must do to make their websites accessible in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). For employers, there has been no formal guidance regarding what it takes to comply with the ADA for purposes of website accessibility, although, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has announced that it intends to release guidance in 2018. The US Department of Justice has also proposed regulations regarding website accessibility for state and local governments under Title II of the ADA (and intends to do the same for places of public accommodation under Title III), but those have not yet taken effect.
