Taren Black is a paralegal in the firm’s Oklahoma City office and a member of the Cannabis Industry and Labor & Employment Practice Groups.
As a Labor & Employment paralegal at Crowe & Dunlevy, Taren assists attorneys with document management including intake from clients, reviewing key information and potential witnesses, preparing for production during the discovery phase and through trial preparation. Her work for cannabis clients consists of filing license applications for the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) and the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (OBNDD).
Her duties also include assisting attorneys in drafting removal pleadings, requesting documents from third party sources, and communicating with clients. Taren has worked on both sides of litigation support and finds great value in the efficiency of document collection and review.
A certified paralegal through the National Association of Legal Assistants, Taren received her initial certification from the University of Oklahoma Legal Assistant Education Program. She earned her undergraduate degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in criminal justice. Since 2020, Taren has served as Treasurer for the Central Oklahoma Association of Legal Assistants (COALA) and was the organization’s Education Chair from 2018 to 2019.
