Chesapeake Energy Files for Ch. 11 Relief: Creditors Need to Protect Their Rights, Claims and Interests

On June 28, 2020, Chesapeake Energy Corporation (Chesapeake) and 40 affiliated companies (collectively, the Debtors) filed petitions in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, seeking debt restructuring relief under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. The Debtors’ cases have been assigned to Judge David R. Jones and they are seeking to have their cases jointly administered for procedural purposes under the case docket for Chesapeake Energy Corporation, Case No. 20-33233 (Main Case Docket).
