Andy Szuwalski, Jeremy Berman and Rhonda McGee double office size; bring significant IP experience
DALLAS – Crowe & Dunlevy recently added Andy Szuwalski and Jeremy Berman as directors and Rhonda McGee as a paralegal to its Dallas office. The additions effectively double the number of employees in the recently opened location and add significant intellectual property offerings to clients in Dallas and the region.
A member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, Szuwalski’s focus includes patent preparation and prosecution as well as patent infringement and validity analysis. His technological knowledge pertaining to intellectual property (IP) law involves electronic systems, semiconductors and integrated circuits, oil and gas drilling tools, electromechanical devices and wired and wireless communication systems. Additionally, his IP experience includes evaluating the scope of a competitor’s IP rights and assisting clients in challenging the validity and enforceability of the competitor’s IP rights. Szuwalski previously chaired the IP practice at a major firm in Dallas, and has been ranked by Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers and Martindale-Hubbell.* He earned his Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School and bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Mississippi.
Berman is also a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group and is a registered patent attorney focusing on electrical, mechanical and software patent applications for clients ranging from large corporations to small start-ups. He has extensive experience in the preparation and filing of U.S. and foreign patent applications, the prosecution of domestic and foreign patent applications and all aspects of practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, as well as in the negotiation and preparation of agreements related to intellectual property and technology. Berman is well versed in electronics, semiconductor manufacturing, nuclear based technologies, automotive and aeronautical technology and oilfield service technologies. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Florida.
As a paralegal in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, McGee’s work pertains to worldwide patent prosecution, docketing, billing and client communications. She supports attorneys with IP procurement, licensing and transactional matters, IP support in complex transactions and IP portfolio management. McGee has been certified by the Paralegal Advanced Competency Exam® (PACE®) since 2002.
Oklahoma-based Crowe & Dunlevy expanded its presence by opening the Dallas office in September 2017 to offer Texas and regional offerings from the firm’s 130 attorneys and nearly 30 practice areas.
