OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Bar Association (OBA) recently honored Crowe & Dunlevy attorneys Anthony Hendricks and Andrew M. Coats for their contributions to Oklahoma’s legal profession. Hendricks was named the 2024 recipient of the OBA’s Earl Sneed Award for his outstanding contributions to continuing education, and Coats received the 2024 Joe Stamper Distinguished Service Award for his long-term service to the OBA and contributions to the legal profession.
Hendricks serves as Chair of the firm’s Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Practice Group. He joins Crowe & Dunlevy attorneys Kevin D. Gordon and Mark A. Craige as recipients of the Earl Sneed Award. A litigator and legal problem solver, he frequently speaks on topics related to cybersecurity, privacy, and regulatory and compliance issues. Hendricks serves as an adjunct professor at Oklahoma City University Law School where he teaches Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Law and Information Privacy. His experience has led him to receive additional honors and awards including being selected as a member of the Lawyers of Color Hot List, a 40 under 40 attorney by the National Association of Black Lawyers, an Ion Oklahoma Magazine 30 under 30 recipient, an Oklahoma Magazine 40 under 40 honoree, a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine, and is listed in Best Lawyers in Commercial Litigation.*
Coats has served the firm and the Oklahoma legal industry for more than 60 years. In 1983, he was elected mayor of Oklahoma City and served in that position until 1987. During his career, he has held several prominent leadership positions including, President of the OBA, President of the Oklahoma County Bar Association, President of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and President of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. He has also been named a Fellow of the American Bar Association, a Trustee of the United States Supreme Court Historical Society, and in 2005, he was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.
Currently, Coats serves as the Dean Emeritus and professor of law at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, in addition to serving as Director Emeritus of the Law Center. In 1996 he was appointed Dean of the law school and served in that role for 14 years before becoming a full-time professor. In recognition of his leadership, the University of Oklahoma Regents renamed the law school’s building Andrew M. Coats Hall in his honor. Coats joins Jimmy K. Goodman, William H. Hoch, Gary C. Clark, William G. Paul, and James L. Hall Jr. as recipients of the OBA’s Joe Stamper Distinguished Service Award.
