Gene Tyler is a director in the firm’s Houston office and a member of the Intellectual Property Practice Group. He has extensive experience representing clients in U.S. and international patent and trademark prosecution.
Prior to practicing law, Gene spent 10 years as a chemist with Upjohn Polymer Chemicals and The Dow Chemical Company. He continued his career with Dow, serving as in-house patent counsel for another 10 years before co-founding Mossman Kumar & Tyler, P.C. in Houston, TX. With a background in chemistry and oilfield chemical based products and equipment, Gene’s law practice includes considerable experience in the preparation of infringement and validity studies. He has negotiated and prepared technology-related agreements, including joint development, licensing, secrecy, and acquisition/divestiture agreements, and has also been involved in mergers and acquisitions both as an in-house attorney and in private practice.
Gene graduated cum laude from South Texas College of Law where he was a member of the Law Review. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry which was certified by the American Chemists Society.
