Tim Gallegly is a director in the firm’s Oklahoma City office and is a member of the Litigation & Trial, Energy, Environment & Natural Resources and Bankruptcy & Creditor’s Rights Practice Groups. He is admitted to practice in both federal and state courts in the state of Oklahoma. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, business contract disputes and collections, oil and gas contract disputes, real property and title disputes, foreclosures and receiverships and bankruptcy matters. Tim has successfully represented a number of clients in various business contract disputes, including oil and gas lease and joint operating agreement disputes, and he has assisted in a number of oil and gas related bankruptcy matters and receiverships. In his commercial litigation practice, Tim is experienced in motion practice and pretrial discovery and trial preparation, and is knowledgeable in electronic discovery, interstate discovery and enforcement of judgments.
Tim received his Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude and was a Hatton W. Sumners Scholar. While in law school, Tim was a member of the OCU Law Review and the William J. Holloway Inn of Court, in addition to serving as a judicial extern for former Magistrate Judge Valerie Couch in the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma. He received numerous CALI awards and the Oklahoma Bar Association award for Excellence in Bankruptcy Law. Tim holds a bachelor’s degree in business finance from Oklahoma City University, where he graduated summa cum laude.
Prior to law school, Tim worked as a tax accounting supervisor for a large independent oil and gas producer in Oklahoma City; where he spent seven years in the corporate workforce before transitioning to the practice of law. Tim is experienced in oil and gas title, royalty, revenue and ownership disputes, in addition to oil and gas related tort claims, bankruptcy, receiverships and collection issues in the oil and gas industry.
Tim is currently on the board of directors for Citizens Caring for Children, an Oklahoma City nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting Oklahoma children in foster care. Tim is also a member of the Federal Bar Association, Oklahoma Bar Association, Oklahoma County Bar Association, Mineral Lawyers Society of Oklahoma and the William J. Holloway, Jr. American Inn of Court.
Representative experience includes*:
- Secured over $500,000 in past production payments and related interest for local geologist in dispute with major oil and gas company
- Obtained summary judgment and successfully collected over $500,000 for local fuel distributor in breach of contract action
- Obtained summary judgment against $6 million claim asserted against oil and gas client related to alleged joint venture liability
- Obtained judgment for and collected over $20,000 in attorney’s fees in forcible entry and detainer action
- Obtained summary judgment against several multi-million dollar claims asserted against oil and gas developer
- Assisted with several multi-million dollar settlements of business ownership and breach of contract disputes on behalf of local utility company
- Represented creditors and assisted with the management and administration of several multi-million dollar receivership cases
- Negotiated and settled dozens of breach of contract disputes
