How do I help clients secure optimal outcomes to disputes?

I help clients cut through the noise of litigation and focus on the strategy that gives them the best chance of reaching a strong, practical resolution. Because litigation is stressful and expensive, especially when a dispute threatens business operations or the business itself, I believe in being candid early about risks, options and what it will realistically take to succeed. I also work hard to keep my clients and me aligned on the overall case theme and objectives from the outset so we can make smart decisions efficiently, as the matter unfolds.

Drawing on direct experience working in the oil and gas industry

Tim Gallegly maintains a broad-based commercial litigation practice that spans oil and gas disputes, bankruptcy and debtor-creditor matters, receiverships, business divorce litigation, construction disputes, collections, contract disputes and quiet title actions. As a general litigator, Tim represents clients across a range of industries, but he’s particularly well-versed in the oil and gas sector after spending years working in the industry before entering the legal profession. He regularly represents producers, mid-stream entities and service providers in litigation involving mineral owners, landowners, subcontractors, vendors and others when projects, contracts or operations go sideways.

Embracing difficult, complex cases and applying innovative tactics

Clients appreciate Tim’s thorough knowledge of every aspect of the litigation process and his ability to step into challenging disputes that require creativity, strategic thinking and a command of trial procedure, evidence and litigation strategy. Rather than limiting his practice to a narrow niche, he embraces the opportunity to quickly learn the operational and business dynamics that drive a client’s dispute and then build a practical roadmap toward resolution. He particularly enjoys handling cases involving novel legal issues, evolving legal theories or unusual contractual disputes where a thoughtful approach can create leverage early in the case.

Providing insight, empathy and a steady hand to protect businesses

While Tim has represented very large companies in multi-million-dollar lawsuits, a significant portion of his practice involves advising small and midsize businesses on how to navigate high-stakes litigation for the first time. He knows that for many business owners, a lawsuit can feel like a bet-the-company event that threatens years of hard work and financial success. Tim focuses on helping those clients stabilize the situation, understand the litigation process, and move forward with a clear strategy designed to protect both the business and the client’s long-term goals.

Communicating clearly and keeping objectives united

Clients value Tim’s direct communication style, efficiency and practical approach to managing litigation risk. He takes time early in a matter to walk clients through likely outcomes, litigation costs, procedural realities and settlement options so expectations remain aligned throughout the case. Tim also works to identify opportunities for innovative and cost-effective resolutions before the parties spend substantial time and money fighting through unnecessary litigation.
