How do I help our clients complete their aircraft transactions?
When purchasing an aircraft, signing a purchase agreement or letter of intent is only the first step in an aircraft transaction. Many additional steps are needed to transfer ownership smoothly and place the aircraft into operation in the United States without unnecessary cost or delay—a detailed process that has been the focus of my work for more than 35 years.
Managing aircraft transactions from title research through registration
Mark manages the regulatory and registration aspects of aircraft transactions from inception through completion. His work includes researching and examining FAA and International Registry records, preparing and coordinating closing documents, managing transaction closings and filing the documents required by both the FAA and the International Registry. Where necessary, he also coordinates temporary certificates of registration (“fly-wires”) and deregistration telexes for aircraft imports and exports. As a result of the evolving industry and the introduction of Unmanned Arial Vehicles (UAV) Mark has registered more drones than anyone in the industry, allowing his expertise to assist our firm’s clients.
Bringing firsthand knowledge of the FAA registration process
For 15 years, Mark worked daily in the FAA’s Public Documents Room in Oklahoma City, interacting directly with FAA personnel responsible for processing aircraft transactions. That experience gave him an unusually detailed understanding of FAA procedures and forged relationships with Registry staff that continue to this day. Both our clients and the firm benefit from Mark’s resulting firsthand knowledge, which allows him to navigate complex filing requirements efficiently, anticipate potential issues and keep transactions moving toward a successful closing.
