How Do I Help Clients Secure the Most Optimal Outcome in Their Litigation?
I represent manufacturers, product suppliers and fraternal organizations in complex litigation, bringing a practical, highly engaged approach to cases that often involve catastrophic injuries, deaths or significant financial exposure. When a client hands me a case, I see a giant puzzle: I want to identify every piece of evidence, understand how those pieces fit together, and develop a strategy that puts the client in the strongest possible position. My clients know I’m thorough, persistent and, as one recently put it, someone who doesn’t simply defend their cases—I truly want to win.
Building defenses from the ground up
Rodney Cook focuses his practice on product liability defense, representing manufacturers of vehicles, commercial products and consumer products in litigation throughout Oklahoma and across much of the United States. He approaches each case by sorting through the facts, documents and legal issues to determine which defenses are available. He then develops a game plan designed to achieve the best possible result, whether through dismissal, settlement or trial.
Turning complexity into actionable choices
Clients value Rodney’s ability to take control of complicated litigation and give them a clear understanding of their options. Rather than simply describing a problem and asking clients what they want to do, he identifies potential courses of action, explains the advantages and disadvantages of each, and makes recommendations so decision-makers can move forward with confidence. His approach proves particularly valuable in catastrophic injury and wrongful-death cases, where manufacturers face the possibility of significant verdicts and heightened litigation risk.
Drawing on many years of experience to every case he handles
Rodney’s product liability practice encompasses a broad range of commercial and consumer products, including large commercial vehicles and semi-trucks. He also represents national and local fraternal organizations, alumni organizations, chapters and individual members in litigation, drawing on a longstanding connection to the fraternity community that began during his undergraduate years and continued as an alumni advisor to his fraternity chapter. His broader litigation experience includes insurance defense, warranty disputes and trucking litigation.
Considering all avenues to resolution, choosing the best route
Known for his knowledge of product liability, insurance, and fraternity law, Rodney combines that substantive experience with an industrious and persistent approach to case preparation. He believes effective advocacy requires turning over every rock—and then turning it over again—to identify the evidence that can be marshalled for the client. Whether the objective is complete victory or limiting the damage when the facts or law make a full win unlikely, Rodney remains focused on doing everything possible to reach the strongest resolution available.
Teaching future lawyers, giving back to the community
Committed to the legal community, Rodney has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, and has also taught at Oklahoma City University’s School of Law teaching litigation skills to law students. He is a former panel counselor for Oklahoma Lawyers for Children.
