How Do I Represent Clients in Their Commercial Litigation?

I help clients navigate high-stakes business disputes by developing practical legal strategies that align with their business objectives, not just their litigation goals. Whether a case calls for an early resolution or a courtroom battle, I provide candid advice about risk, remain responsive throughout the process, and prepare every matter as though it will go to trial. Clients know they can rely on me for straightforward counsel, creative problem-solving and the relentless preparation needed to protect their interests.

Handling complex commercial disputes across industries

Kayci Hughes focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation for clients across the country. She serves as lead trial counsel in high-stakes contract, business tort, class action and multi-party litigation. Within her national client base, she advocates for clients in the energy, environmental, manufacturing, construction, banking and real estate industries, among others. Kayci also represents clients in insurance, bankruptcy, debtor-creditor and consumer disputes.

Generating creative yet pragmatic strategies while preparing for trial

Kayci approaches every case with the understanding that successful litigation requires sound, and often innovative, legal analysis and practical business judgment. She works closely with clients to evaluate risk, identify opportunities for early resolution when appropriate, and craft litigation strategies that retain their ability to prevail at trial. Because she has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in significant commercial matters, she brings a broader perspective that helps her anticipate opposing strategies and position clients for the strongest possible outcome.

Communicating candidly while adapting to changing circumstances

Clients value Kayci’s responsiveness, work ethic and willingness to deliver honest advice, even when the message is difficult. She believes clients deserve more than answers to the questions they ask; they also benefit from guidance about the issues they may not yet have considered and the business implications of every decision. Her ability to synthesize complex factual and technical issues, develop efficient discovery strategies, and adjust litigation plans as cases evolve allows clients to make informed decisions with confidence. Additionally, she handles appellate matters—which strengthens her trial practice by helping preserve issues for review while cases are still being litigated—and her practice also includes sports-related litigation involving high school Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) eligibility issues.

Leading teams while strengthening client service

While maintaining her litigation practice, Kayci serves in leadership roles that enhance the firm’s ability to serve clients effectively. She serves on Crowe Dunlevy’s Executive Committee while also contributing to the firm’s Litigation & Trial Practice and Energy, Environment & Natural Resources practice groups. Kayci serves as the firm’s Loss Prevention Counsel, co-chairs its Associate Development Program and leads the firm’s Women in Banking, FinTech & Finance initiative, experiences that reinforce her commitment to professional excellence and thoughtful leadership. They also augment exceptional client service, for example by enhancing her ability to help build successful legal teams because she recognizes the individual strengths of her colleagues.
