How do I help clients with tax, estate & wealth planning, and business matters?

I help clients see both the tax and human consequences of major decisions. Whether I’m advising an entrepreneur launching a business, a family planning for the next generation, or a company engaging in an important deal, I focus on providing practical guidance that creates opportunities, protects wealth, and helps clients make informed, confident decisions. The technical answers matter, but the people behind them matter even more.

Guiding clients through the full business and wealth lifecycle

Nancy Collins advises clients on international, federal, state and local tax matters, with a practice centered on sophisticated estate planning, mergers and acquisitions, business formation, restructurings and tax compliance. She frequently works with entrepreneurs from the earliest stages of a business through growth, succession planning and eventual exit transactions, helping them maximize both business value and tax efficiency along the way.

Her experience encompasses a broad range of industries and sectors, including healthcare, energy, technology, real estate, private investment funds, nonprofit organizations and closely held businesses. She also counsels high-net-worth individuals, family offices and public figures on complex wealth preservation, asset protection and multigenerational planning strategies.

Structuring transactions with tax efficiency in mind

Nancy regularly advises buyers, sellers, investors and business owners on the tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, financings and other transactions. Because of her extensive tax background, she often identifies opportunities and risks that may not be immediately apparent during negotiations. Whether evaluating asset-versus-stock transactions, addressing purchase price allocations, organizing new business entities, or assisting with due diligence, she helps clients avoid unnecessary tax burdens and understand how tax considerations influence business outcomes.

Drawing on diverse experience and industry insight

Nancy brings a distinctive perspective to her practice, informed by lifelong exposure to business, finance, and entrepreneurship. She combines extensive technical tax knowledge with a deep understanding of how businesses operate. On any given day, her work may involve international tax planning, estate and trust matters, healthcare transactions, energy-sector issues, real estate investments, REIT structures, Opportunity Zone investments, FIRPTA matters, UBTI considerations for nonprofit organizations or complex corporate restructurings. Clients value her ability to move comfortably across disciplines while maintaining focus on the broader strategic picture.

Building relationships that extend beyond the legal advice

Known for her responsiveness and excellent client service, Nancy strives to become a long-term advisor rather than simply a transaction lawyer. She takes the time to understand each client’s business, family and goals, helping them evaluate not only what is legally possible, but what is most likely to succeed in practice. Her extensive professional network—including relationships with tax authorities, advisors, accountants and other professionals—often helps clients resolve issues efficiently and identify new opportunities. She also enjoys connecting clients when appropriate business synergies exist, creating value that transcends the legal engagement itself.

Contributing to the profession and community

The recipient of numerous honors and awards, Nancy regularly shares her knowledge with clients, advisors and professional organizations while remaining active in charitable and community initiatives. Her service on nonprofit and healthcare-related boards reflects the same commitment she brings to her practice: helping individuals, families and organizations build stronger futures through thoughtful planning and informed decision-making.
